At a conference in Spokane, Washington on October 22 Jeffrey Christian of the CPM Group and Bill Murphy of GATA debated whether the Silver Market is manipulated. The debate was recorded. The YouTube Video is 32 minutes long. It is titled ‘The Great Silver Debate – Manipulation: Fact or Fiction? – GATA vs. CPM Group Showtime!’. I know and like Jeffrey Christian. I have spent enough time with him to believe him to be smart, thoughtful and balanced in his thinking. I do not know Bill Murphy, and hence have no opinion of him and am not expressing one by saying that.
Silver Manipulation has been a ‘hot topic’ for many years. As you probably are well aware, silver manipulation theories abound, are promoted by voracious advocates, studied with interest by many dispassionate observers, and are panned by disbelievers.
That said, a lot of people seem to me to currently be promoting the possibility, likelihood, or even certainty that the silver price will rise significantly going forward. Some of those views are influenced, or so I think, by people who believe the silver price is manipulated. Accordingly, I think having come across the Christian/Murphy Debate Video this past weekend that it is worthwhile to bring it to your attention if you own or are considering owning physical silver, did not attend the Spokane conference, or haven’t already seen it. I watched it carefully, and think it is worthwhile watching and thinking about what each of the speakers – including the moderator – have to say.
I am a great believer in reading body language, watching general demeanor, and listening to voice tone and speed at which people speak while I listen to them. I have learned at least as much in meetings over the years by watching and observing what I collectively call body language as I have learned by simultaneously listening carefully to what people have said. I suggest you watch and listen to each of Messrs. Christian and Murphy carefully, and observe those things throughout the debate to see if that helps you assess what you observe and listen to.
